Europa League: Stuttgart v Dinamo Moscow

Head coach Dan Petrescu of FC Kuban Krasnodar gestures during the Russian Football League Championship match between FC Dynamo Moscow and FC Kuban Krasnodar at the Khimki Stadium on April 09, 2011 in Khimki, Russia.

Things couldn’t look any worse for Dinamo as they find themselves last in the RPL with no points at all and only one goal scored and 11 conceded. But they have one of the best squads in the RPL and now they’ve also got a top coach to lead them in the form of Dan Petrescu, and I think it’s a matter of time until they get back on track.

Dinamo were hugely backed and expected to win last week-end against modest Terek, though I was smart enough that day not to get involved. We all know the final result, they failed miserably once again and this time there’s little support from the betting community, also felt by bookmakers who were quick to adjust their odds and offer an attractive +1 for Dinamo.

So why would anyone back them when they haven’t proved anything yet? Answers could be different, but as far as I am concerned, I believe in their group of players, which used to rock for two seasons in a row, and not lastly it’s about Petrescu and his coaching skills. This guy has the potential to make a football team play better than their level really is. It’s happened at Kuban and it’s happened in Romania with Unirea as well. He is fantastic and I am quite sure that we’ll see a different side of the story when Dinamo take on Sttugart tonight.
