Gambling News - Sports Betting News

The Euro 2012 qualifiers were all wrapped up nicely last month which leaves eight crucial matches to be played over the next week to determine who will grab a spot in the finals next summer! The action promises to be tense, frenetic, passionate and as is so often the case with high profile, high reward matches nowadays, there is likely to be a fair degree of controversy along the way!

The luck of the Irish! A phrase seldom applied to the Ireland football team as they have lost 4 out of 5 international playoffs. The most recent and most infamous was against France in the 2010 World Cup playoffs when Thierry Henry’s blatant handball, led to the winning goal and the Irish downfall. They are 1.30 to reverse their fortunes this time out against an Estonian side that have never reached a major tournament or even a playoff, until now. Estonia are 3.50 to write a new chapter in the history books!

Turkey meet Croatia in a rematch of the dramatic Euro 2008 quarter final, when it looked like Croatia were heading to the semi finals after Ivan Klasnic scored in the 119th minute, only for Turkey to equalise and win on penalties! Croatia are 1.72 to avenge this heartache by qualifying, whilst Turkey are 2.12 to make the finals.

Two years ago Bosnia and Herzegovina lost to Portugal in the World Cup playoffs, this time the fixture is repeated in the Euro playoffs with Bosnia and Herzegovina looking to avenge their defeat. Portugal won both legs 1-0 on that occasion and with the likes of superstars Ronaldo and Nani in the line up are 2.25 to win on Friday night away from home. Portugal who are ranked 8th in the FIFA world rankings are as short as 1.35 to qualify whilst Bosnia and Herzegovina are 3.25.

Montenegro are 2.60 to reach the Euro 2012 finals against the Czech Republic who are 1.50. The two teams have never met, not a great surprise considering that Montenegro’s team has only existed since 2006 after splitting from Serbia and they have only ever played in one major competition – the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. But they are not to be taken lightly after finishing second in Group G, with only England ahead of them.
