
Online gambling
Despite being prohibited by the unpopular State Treaty On Gaming, a recent survey has found that around two million German adults participate in some form of online gambling or betting, IGB have revealed.
According to recent research conducted by Forsa, 300,000 women and just over 1.7 million men in Germany gamble online.
The survey was commissioned by high-tech industry group Bitkom and found that the Lotto was the most popular game as it was played by 59 percent of online gamblers followed by poker with 22 percent and sportsbetting at 18 percent.
The research found that the Lotto is especially popular with women as 64 percent of female online gamblers revealed that they take part using the Internet as compared to only 57 percent of men.
Regarding spend, two-thirds of those surveyed stated that they indulged less than €20 per month while the remaining one-quarter revealed that they regularly spent more.
